We have pleasure in confirming details of our latest regional meeting for careers teachers and education advisers in the North East. This will take place at the Royal Grammar School, Newcastle upon Tyne on Wednesday 7 June 2017.
Lunch will be available at 12:30 and the meeting will begin at 13:30. An open forum will follow the presentation in which those present can network, share ideas and exchange examples of good practice. The meeting will finish at 15:30.
Our keynote speaker will be Steve Riddle who is a lecturer in Computer Science at Newcastle University with responsibility for undergraduate placements, careers and development of employability skills. Steve will be able to cover the many and varied opportunities available, the relevant degree courses and an overview of the apprenticeship possibilities.
Steve has worked at the University for over 20 years in research and teaching, and is programme director for the MSc course in Security and Resilience. He is also course lead for a three-week MOOC (massive open online course) in Cyber Security delivered by Newcastle University.
Optional: Centigrade Training Course 10:30 – 12:30
In addition to the main meeting, there will be an opportunity to learn how to make the best use of Centigrade, COA's HE selection programme for students. Centigrade matches a student's interests and abilities with HE courses and institutions in the UK, Ireland, Australasia, Canada and those in Europe offering undergraduate degrees taught in English.
