We have pleasure in confirming our next regional network meeting for careers teachers and higher education advisers in the Midlands. This will take place at Leicester High School for Girls on Thursday 23rd November.
There is a huge variety of exciting career paths open to young people with STEM based skills. STEM qualifications are in demand in the job market and offer good long career prospects.
Our guest speaker, Matt Humphrey, is a Chartered Civil Engineer with many years working for the Water Industry on a wide range of projects internationally and in the UK.
Matt is a passionate STEM ambassador and has worked with over 100 educational organisations in the UK. Matt will give an overview of STEM careers and possible routes to take for students, talk about why people do or don't choose STEM careers and the stigma attached for female students, as well as explain the support available to schools via institutions like STEM Learning.
A buffet lunch will be available at 12:30 and the meeting will begin at 13:30. An open forum will follow the presentation in which those present can network, share ideas and exchange examples of good practice.
